Your body is a temple

I Corinthians 6:19 NLT - "Don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God?"

Looking over my victories, and Defeats, I questioned myself..... WHY, WHY, WHY do I so struggle with my temple. Why is it that I can so easily make excuses for myself, when I KNOW that my pants are feeling a little snug these days. Have I gotten TOO comfortable with how I feel, or have I just accepted that I "look fine" in everyone else's eyes? Then I ask myself WHY can't I take better care of my "temple" in which God has blessed me with. So..... I opened up my new devotional that I got from my brother for my birthday... God IS in the small stuff and all that matters stop worrying and invite God into the details of Your life. What are the odds I opened it right to the "Your body is a temple" chapter? Well, that IS a God thing. So, allow me to share with you what God Shared with me on this journey.

The secret to getting and staying healthy lies in the details. Change WON'T happen overnight. It takes time as a multitude of small disciplines are repeated daily. The process may be tedious, but the results are well worth the effort. Not only will you feel better, but you'll think better, too! A sound body can enhance a sound mind (conversely, health problems due to sloppy eating habits and sporadic exercise routines can undermine the mind). We may be spiritual creatures at heart, but while we're on earth our spirits are being housed in our physical bodies. Let's do everything we can to keep the house in top shape. pages 96 & 97

SMALL disciplines.... am I willing to give up those little extras (even when they ARE a healthy choice)? Am I willing to get up a little bit earlier to walk a few miles? Am I willing to stick to my 5 & 1 Program because MY HEALTH matters? It truly is MY choice to decide how healthy I want to be.

This past week I've been reminded how short life truly is... when my cat was killed on the road this week, leaving four, six day old baby kittens behind, I cried for most of Friday. Trying to keep in perspective, "life on the farm". My heart ached anyways. Then REALITY hits when I found out that a good friend of mine from bunco, Dot, her husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor only a month ago, they've been in Seattle doing surgery with a positive outcome... I'll be attending his funeral on Wednesday.

With this said, Life is TOO short to not take action, MAKE those small disciplines to chose YOUR HEALTH. You ARE in CHARGE of your temple while here on this earth! It's a decision that only you can make. It will be a decision you make on a daily basis to make healthy choices. You Decide! You ARE THE ONLY ONE who can truly make those decisions.
